Bulgarian Market:

In many fruitful Bulgarian regions Crop 2005 was affected by the poring rains fallen during August/September 2005 and as a result the crop was poor. There were unfavourable weather conditions during the winter 2005/2006 and they still are with regard to the expected harvest, and for the present there are no forecast suggesting the opposite until the spring. In spite of all unfavourable weather conditions during the winter, the forthcoming Harvest 2006 is expected to have higher yield than the previous year. There shall not be new polyflora honey until June (at the earliest) even though the acacia honey yield shall be available in the beginning of June.
The apiarists are still keeping big amounts of honey yielded in 2005 due to the low purchase prices. The sugar prices have been running high lately and this is a fact that additionally makes the apiarists to be unwilling to offer their amounts of honey, which they have kept since about 1 or 2 years. More of the apiarists have stopped using antibiotics forced by EU requirements but there are still unsold amounts remaining from previous years.
